Jamal Malik, a young orphan who lives in a slum in Bombay, she decides to contest the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire". To the surprise of all, Jamal correctly answer each and every one of the questions. When Jamal is about to answer the last question, he will win 20 million rupees, the police stops him and takes him away for questioning. Explains why Jamal knew the answers, having to resort to it to tell different times of his life, also help to reveal the real reason for their participation in the contest.
